Ah, Croatia, sunsets and boaty things with two hulls….Cavtat / Croatia : You’re luvverly…..
Well, we’ve been here before but if any location is the personification of the word ‘Verdant’ then this is it. Roughting Linn Waterfall in Northumbria.
If I wasn’t:
B) Living in the 21st Century
C) Scared of peyote cactus and other shamanistic shenanigans
I would have gone back to my pagan roots, donned a cloak of twigs and whirled in the way that dervishes do whilst worshipping the root and branch. Instead, I whipped out the Canon 5D, slapped a jet black ND16 filter on it and took this shot. A beautiful place, quiet and affecting.
“and we were dizzied by the beating wind. At night we were stained by dew, and shamed into pettiness by the innumerable silences of stars.”
Very true. I’d guess it was around 90+degrees when this was taken. The breeze was hairdryer hot, the dust & sand like furnace ash.
“No Arab loves the desert. We love water and green trees. There is nothing in the desert. And no man needs nothing.”
But then there is the beautiful, clean, austerity of the place. Pure of line, angle and colour, which then creates the need of one human to connect with another. A short series of desert images coming soon. Number 1 : Syrian desert, 40k from Palmyra.
Beautiful sunrise this morning. Here we are on the Northumberland coast looking towards Bamburgh Castle at around 06:00.
Camera : Canon 5DII, Canon 17-40L & Nd4.
Might be another one coming soon 🙂
Final shot of the castle for a while. Mainly because I got wet feet.
The Northumberland coast is gorgeous. No orcs. Absolutely not. But then, on a dark, moonless night it can, on occasion, look somewhat like another place.
Taken in 2010. See you in 2014.
Tidal surges, 100mph winds and localised flooding. It’s all been happening recently, hence a bit of storm chasing was in order. Luckily, I neither ended up in Kansas or needed one of these. This shot was taken last night in Berwick-upon-Tweed at high tide. And chuff me, it was cold.
OK, this is a nice enough photo – a little landscape and a little castle in Scotland. Ah but! It’s not a photo…It’s a video still. Yeah I know. Kinda scary. And this is ‘only’ a 2.5K raw still from the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. When the 4K comes out I might be throwing the still camera away. Well, except when I need a blast of flash in sunlight, a long exposure for star trails, a long exposure for milky water or a 21mp fashion shot 🙂 Anyway, when I finally manage to hire myself a Cray super-computer I’ll process the raw cinema files and get them uploaded…Meanwhile it’s stills only.
